Jenna Beem

I started battling migraines at 17 years old. After college, they took over my life. As a skeptical physicist, I did not explore any “alternative” methods until I ran out of medical options. My hard-working doctors tried every medication and experimental treatment possible without success. I had given up hope until my first acupuncture treatment. It changed my life.
The approach was unlike anything I had experienced. My acupuncturist took the time to understand all of the physical, emotional, and lifestyle factors contributing to my migraines.
He used acupuncture and healing touch to draw the headache out. A weight was lifted. It was amazing.
The physicist in me wanted to understand the energetic nature of the qi flow I felt. I wanted to learn everything about the nature of health. It was both a personal necessity of finding a pain free, happy life as well as a passion to be shared with others. Thus began a life long study.
This quest has taken me around the world, through many classes and books. The study of healing is fascinating! Who heals? How does it work? How have other cultures and traditions addressed this? How does it all fit together?
This desire to understand lead me to my career as an acupuncturist. I went to school to get my MSAOM from Bastyr so I could use this medicine with others. Craniosacral therapy, meditation, yoga, and other energetic healing techniques were both helpful to me as well as fascinating to strive to understand.
In my studies and practice, I strive to harmonize a blend of intuition and knowledge, eastern systems and western, traditional medicine and modern science, as well as theory vs. effective practice.
In February of 2009, I opened Health Discovery Acupuncture & Yoga.
I am constantly impressed by the body's ability to change and let go of painful patterns. We are so lucky to have access to the finest insights of medical science as well as sacred teachings of ancient cultures. I absolutely love sharing this medicine and all these practices with patients every day.
